Wow! That is truly my first reaction upon finishing Diet & Heart Disease: It's NOT What You Think... by Stephen Byrnes, Ph.D., RNCP. Dr. Byrnes has done an amazing job of summarizing all of the information a typical person would need to get started on a new, healthier lifestyle. In only 86 pages, Dr. Byrnes lays out and explains the fallacies that are pushed by the American Medical Association and the American media and generally accepted by the public; and the motives behind the propaganda.
Included in this book, you will find the history of heart disease, how and when it became prevalent in our Nation and how and why it’s beginning to spread throughout the globe. You’ll find case histories and validated scientific studies which prove the truths and disprove the accepted myths about heart disease and general nutrition; and you’ll get everything you need to know to reverse and/or prevent heart disease for yourself and your family.
When I got myself a copy of this book, I was looking for something I could share with friends that would give it to “them” straight in an easy-to-read and understand format. This book is all of that and more. In only 86 pages, Dr. Byrnes manages to lay out--in easy-to-understand language--all a person would ever need to know about heart-disease, cholesterol, fats and how these relate to a myriad of other illnesses, including arthritis, lupus, diabetes and other autoimmune dysfunctions. He includes information on meats, fats, milk, viatmins, minerals and even the herbs recommended and used to keep the heart healthy. At the end of the book, you'll also find a chapter on thyroid health and how it corresponds and contributes to heart health.
If you or someone you know is battling cholesterol levels and/or heart disease with the use of medications, surgeries or other medical treatments, this is the book for you (or him). It would ALSO be a good read for anyone suffering from autoimmune illness, including diabetes. I would also recommend it as a quick, easy read for anyone who has ever wondered or worried about his cholesterol as well. Although many health catastrophes can be reversed, it’s always a better idea to avoid it in the first place. A copy of this book contains everything you’d need to do just that.
